As part of the “Giardini e Dintorni” event, PromoCulture takes you to discover the Gardens of the Teverina between 20 and 21 September, characterised by the relationship between man and nature and by local gastronomy. There are two stops: the Serpara Garden in Civitella D’Agliano and the Natural History Museum of Lubriano.
Serpara Garden – Civitella D’Agliano
Passing through the entrance gate of the Serpara is not just entering a garden but something more: it means crossing a boundary that combines sculpture and landscape, in a balanced relationship, never redundant.
Set on the hills surrounding Civitella D’Agliano, this place surprises at first sight with its 80 contemporary sculptures scattered across the landscape, distinguished above all by the variety of their materials: iron, steel, wood and stone. Sculptures that evoke natural themes dear to their creator, such as fire, water and air, because, as he himself stated, “There is no clear boundary between art and life, just as there should be none between art and nature.”
A small stream runs through the park among the local vegetation, visible at several points along the free route, helping to create a deeply relaxing and cool environment.
The bond between landscape and sculptures is further reinforced by the presence of native flora: the garden covers as much as 4 hectares of land and is home to bamboo, banana trees, hazel trees and Japanese maples.
At the end, there is also room for a tasting of local wines to showcase the area’s typical products.
Natural History Museum – Lubriano
The following day will feature the Natural History Museum of Lubriano, a small gem set within the Valle dei Calanchi, created to showcase the bond between nature, art, landscape and rural tradition.
Inside there is an educational herbarium, microscopes, geological finds (including a calanco formation with a fossil) and a scientific library.
The outdoor route, called “The Path of Waters, Flowers, Fruits and Edible Herbs” allows visitors to experience nature as an educational journey touching on botany, beekeeping, landscape and traditions.
The route gains even more value thanks to its natural position and the splendid panoramic view over Civita di Bagnoregio.
As on the previous day, the visit will end with a tasting of local products, symbolically closing a journey centred on conviviality and the relationship with nature.
