Gardens of the Teverina: art, taste and nature between Civitella d’Agliano and Lubriano

As part of the “Giardini e Dintorni” event, on 20 and 21 September PromoCulture takes you to discover the Gardens of the Teverina, marked by the relationship between people and nature and by local cuisine. Two stops: the Serpara Garden in Civitella d’Agliano and the Natural History Museum of Lubriano.

La Serpara Garden – Civitella d’Agliano. Crossing the gate of La Serpara is more than entering a garden: it means crossing a boundary that blends sculpture and landscape in a balanced, never excessive relationship. Set on the hills around Civitella d’Agliano, it surprises at first sight with 80 contemporary sculptures made of iron, steel, wood and stone, recalling natural themes dear to its creator — fire, water and air — for, as he said, “There is no clear boundary between art and life, just as there should be none between art and nature.” A small stream runs through the local vegetation, and the garden’s four hectares host bamboo, banana trees, hazels and Japanese maples. The visit ends with a tasting of local wines.

Natural History Museum – Lubriano. The following day stars the Natural History Museum of Lubriano, a little gem set in the Valle dei Calanchi, created to highlight the bond between nature, art, landscape and rural civilisation. Inside are a teaching herbarium, microscopes, geological finds and a scientific library; outside, the “Trail of waters, flowers, fruits and edible herbs” offers an educational nature experience with splendid views of Civita di Bagnoregio. As the day before, the visit ends with a tasting of local products.
