GO ITALY and WTM London

The ELT network will take part in the following two trade fairs, very different yet complementary.

The first, GO ITALY, targets the French-speaking Swiss niche; the second is the year’s main event, WTM London.

Both will use the material – brochure, video, travel packages – produced for the recent “Tuscia beyond borders” educational trips.

GO ITALY

Organised by the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Switzerland, the first edition of the fair promoting tourism in Italy, “Go-Italy Tourism”, was held on 3 November 2016 at the Hôtel Beau Rivage in Geneva. For the event, around ten selected Italian operators  from across Italy presented themselves to the Geneva market.

The programme was as follows:
– From 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.: B2B meetings (travel agencies, tour operators, press)
– From 5.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.: doors open to the general public

Switzerland is one of the most attractive markets for Italian tourism operators with strong growth potential, a natural inclination to travel in Italy, spending power and a holiday calendar that allows several trips per year. The Swiss economy continues to outperform much of Europe, with GDP growth forecast at around 2.2%. With above-average spending power, Swiss travellers take around 2.5 overnight trips per person per year.Swiss spending on foreign travel is around €10 billion; for trips to Italy they spend about €140 per day on average.Swiss tourists are the third-largest market for central and northern Italy. Interest and overnight stays are also growing in cultural holidays and art cities, including smaller towns, plus food and wine, golf and nautical tourism. Lakes, active and nature holidays (trekking, cycling) and wellness are also performing well.

WTM London

As a driving force behind the Southern Etruria Tourism District, the ELT network will be at this key event on 7 November.

Alongside Viterbo Deputy Mayor Luisa Ciambella, a key figure in creating the Tourism District, Maria Luigina Paoli will represent the network at a dedicated press conference.

Structuring the District across nearby regions united by the Etruscan theme meets feedback from most operators met during the “Tuscia beyond borders” educational trips, who wanted stronger links between Tuscia, Umbria and Tuscany.

Tourism District note

The Archaeological Superintendency for Lazio and Southern Etruria and the municipalities of Viterbo and Orvieto, giving substance to a valorisation agreement promoted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, joined forces with passion, together with many local authorities large and small: Cerveteri, Tarquinia, Tuscania, Bolsena, Montalto di Castro, Canino, Grosseto, Manciano, Scansano, Castiglione Della Pescaia, Chiusi, San Casciano Dei Bagni, Sarteano, Montepulciano E Murlo.

Four Etruria Experience routes across Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany will take centre stage, following the Etruscans and their secrets: the water routes, wine and salt routes, oil and grain routes, and woodland routes open the door to an unforgettable multisensory experience.

Essential to the project is the dedicated multimedia platform www.experiencetruria.it, built around an interactive map: with one click visitors can discover towns and their treasures, explore routes, find exhibitions and sensory  experiences, view 3D video, or download a special road map to take on their journeys in Etruscan lands.
