GO Italy & WTM London

GO Italy and WTM London

The ELT network took part in two very different yet complementary trade events: the first, GO Italy, focused on the French-speaking Swiss niche, and the second at the year’s most important appointment, WTM London. In both, the materials — brochures, videos and travel packages — created for the recent “Tuscia Beyond Borders” educationals were used.

GO ITALY

Organised by the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Switzerland, the first edition of “Go-Italy Tourism” took place on 3 November 2016 at the Hôtel Beau Rivage in Geneva, where about ten selected Italian operators presented themselves to the Geneva market. Switzerland is one of the most interesting markets for Italian tourism operators: high growth potential, a natural inclination to travel to Italy and strong spending power, with an average of 2.5 overnight trips per person each year. Swiss travellers are the third market for central-northern Italy, with growing interest in cultural holidays, art cities, food and wine, golf, nautical tourism and wellness. Representing the ELT network was Alessio Pagliara.

WTM LONDON

As a key player in the creation of the Southern Etruria Tourist District, the ELT network attended this essential event on 7 November. Alongside the Deputy Mayor of Viterbo, Luisa Ciambella, Maria Luigina Paoli represented the network in a dedicated press conference. Networking the district of neighbouring regions united by the Etruscan theme responds to suggestions from operators met during the “Tuscia Beyond Borders” educationals, who hoped for a link between Tuscia and nearby Umbria and Tuscany.

About the tourist district

The Archaeological Superintendency of Lazio and Southern Etruria and the municipalities of Viterbo and Orvieto, giving substance to an enhancement agreement promoted by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, joined forces with many small and large municipalities: Cerveteri, Tarquinia, Tuscania, Bolsena, Montalto di Castro, Canino, Grosseto, Manciano, Scansano, Castiglione della Pescaia, Chiusi, San Casciano dei Bagni, Sarteano, Montepulciano and Murlo. The four “Etruria Experience” itineraries across Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany — the ways of water, of wine and salt, of oil and grain, and of the woods — will be the gateways to an unforgettable multisensory experience, supported by the dedicated platform www.experiencetruria.it.
