Ceramics workshop: in the footsteps of the pilgrims

A workshop of ceramic “footprints” on which participants — like the pilgrims passing through Viterbo — leave a lasting testimony of their visit. The pieces are distinctive for their shape and for the mineral pigment used to sign them: deliberately grey, to echo the tone of the “peperino” stone Viterbo is built from.

Viterbo, city of the popes and a stop on the Via Francigena, is built of peperino, the grey volcanic stone that marks its alleys and palaces. Pilgrims have crossed it for centuries: the workshop echoes this memory of passage, leaving a mark in the clay.
